Surabaya, 2025 – The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly advanced in line with the digital era and has now become an essential component in supporting university business processes. AI is considered capable of accelerating efficiency while enabling more accurate data-driven decision-making. Addressing this challenge, Satu Data organized a training program on AI System Development using Gemini and Vertex AI on August 12–13 2025 at the Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB), Campus C. The training was attended by AI-related experts and interns from the Directorate of Information Systems and Digitalization (DSID). The sessions were delivered by Muhajir Akbar Hasibuan, S.Stat., Senior AI/ML Engineer at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison who brought his expertise directly to the participants.
The event officially began with an opening address by Dr. Unggul Heriqbaldi, Head of Satu Data Universitas Airlangga. In his remarks, he expressed great hopes that this project would serve as a pioneer for large-scale AI development at UNAIR while emphasizing the importance of collaboration between Satu Data and students from diverse fields such as Mathematics, Information Systems, and Informatics Engineering to advance AI initiatives within the university. Following this, Christiant Dimas Renggana, S.Kom. as Project Manager presented an overview of the project along with its long-term development roadmap, outlining the major strategies and implementation stages.
The core sessions featured technical presentations by Muhajir Akbar Hasibuan, S.Stat. divided into two parts. On the first day (12/08) the focus was on introducing the technology stack and system architecture employed in the project. On the second day (13/08) participants engaged in a hands-on experience by collaboratively creating a demo project. The direct interaction between the trainer and participants built dynamic discussions, making this initiative a key milestone in advancing AI development at Universitas Airlangga.
Through this training, Universitas Airlangga demonstrated its strong commitment to continuously adapting to technological developments. The program provided a valuable learning opportunity for leveraging AI as a driver of the university’s digital transformation. Moreover, collaboration between Satu Data, interdisciplinary students, and industry practitioners is expected to generate impactful innovations for data management and university development.
