Surabaya, 2025 – Continuing its commitment to fostering student innovation through real-world work environments, Satu Data Universitas Airlangga has once again hosted an internship program. Following previous successful projects in data visualization and website development this second batch of internship focused on the development of the UNAIR AI Chatbot, an artificial intelligence-based service that aims to search for related data & information that exists at universities in various fields so that it is expected to provide benefits to university leaders in terms of supporting decision-making.
From August 18 to October 18, Satu Data Universitas Airlangga hosted two internship teams focusing on the UNAIR AI Chatbot Development project. This project aimed to develop an intelligent chatbot capable of responding to inquiries from Universitas Airlangga’s stakeholders based on specific data domains. The internship was supervised by Christiant Dimas Renggana, S.Kom.
Team 1, consisting of Sofiah Amanda and Sultan Ghani Firmansyah, worked on the domains of Internationalization Staff (Inbound and Outbound) and New Student for the UNAIR AI Chatbot. Meanwhile, Team 2, composed of Ryelvino Christopel Kelo and Vincentia Laura Marshanda, focused on the Collaboration and Internationalization (Student Inbound and Outbound) domains.
The main output of the project was an enhancement of UNAIR AI Chatbot, enabling it to answer stakeholder questions related to the specific domains handled by each team. With these new domain integrations, the chatbot can now deliver more relevant and context-specific information, such as university internationalization processes and guidance for new students. Over the two-month internship period the students gained valuable hands-on experience in data management, database design, and AI system integration. They also learned the importance of technical documentation standards, version control using GIT, and effective team coordination in managing digital collaboration projects.
The 2025 Internship Program at Satu Data Universitas Airlangga not only produced tangible results for the institution but also equipped students with critical skills to face future challenges in the information technology field. Through the UNAIR AI Chatbot Development Project students directly contributed to Universitas Airlangga’s digital ecosystem, supporting its vision of becoming a Smart Campus while simultaneously enriching their academic journey through real-world experience in data-driven innovation and artificial intelligence development.
