Surabaya, 2025 – On December 30th, 2025, Universitas Airlangga officially launched ARUNA (Airlangga University Intelligent Assistant) during the Q4 Leadership Coordination Meeting. The meeting brought together university leaders from academic and administrative units and served as a strategic forum to align institutional priorities toward data-driven governance and digital transformation.
The launch of ARUNA marked an important milestone in Universitas Airlangga’s ongoing effort to strengthen intelligent decision making across all levels of leadership. Developed by PUSAKA – Pusat Satu Data dan Kecerdasan Digital, ARUNA represents the university’s commitment to making institutional data more accessible, structured, and actionable through the use of artificial intelligence.
During the session, PUSAKA introduced ARUNA as a smart assistant designed to translate user questions into structured queries and retrieve information directly from Universitas Airlangga’s internal databases. This capability allows leaders to quickly access reliable data without navigating multiple systems, supporting faster and more informed decision making in both academic and administrative contexts.
Beyond answering general questions, ARUNA enables users to explore information in greater depth. The demonstration highlighted how ARUNA can process historical records and present contextual insights, such as tracking trends in new student admissions to reflect the university’s current condition. This functionality positions ARUNA not only as an information tool, but also as a data exploration companion for leadership.
One of ARUNA’s key features is its ability to transform raw data into meaningful insights through visualization. Users can request charts or graphs that instantly display trends and patterns, helping stakeholders move beyond isolated numbers to understand the broader story behind the data. This capability supports clearer interpretation and more strategic discussions during leadership forums.
The ARUNA platform is designed with user comfort in mind, offering both light and dark modes and full responsiveness across desktop and mobile devices. This flexibility ensures that leaders can interact with ARUNA anytime and anywhere, aligning with modern working patterns and mobility needs.
As part of Universitas Airlangga’s long-term digital strategy, ARUNA will continue to be refined and expanded. Future development will focus on broader data coverage, improved analytical capabilities, and higher answer accuracy across university domains.
“ARUNA is the first chatbot generation that exists in Universitas Airlangga. Of course, there are still many limitations, but we are committed to continuously improving its use. While it is currently focused on stakeholders, we aim to expand its reach so it can also support students and the wider public,” said Prof. Unggul, Head of PUSAKA, during the launch.
The introduction of ARUNA reflects Universitas Airlangga’s vision for a smarter, faster, and more inclusive information ecosystem—one that empowers leadership through intelligent data access and reinforces the university’s position in digital innovation and governance.
